NORIT X-FLOW SETS RECORD ON INTEGRITY

16.10.07

Since 2005 Norit X-Flow XIGA™ & Aquaflex SXL-225 membrane elements were installed in numerous
ultrafiltration systems around the world. Three large municipal ultrafiltration (UF) systems located in
Germany (38 MGD), The Netherlands (17 MGD) and the USA (2.4 MGD) are in operation for more
than one or two consecutive years, with virtual no maintenance.

When it comes to integrity and membrane performance, Norit X-Flow has been able to virtually
eliminate the costs associated with membrane maintenance. The membrane repair costs for all three
plants combined are less than 0 per year, which is equivalent to less than $ 0.01 per million
gallons of potable water produced. This makes the maintenance costs of Norit X-Flow membranes
negligible.

This is how our customers feel about it:

Bill Cole, general manager of Keokuk Municipal Waterworks:
“The Norit membrane has exceeded our expectations.“

Walter Dautzenberg, general manager of WAG Nordeifel GmbH, Roetgen water works:
“Norit membranes show stable operation at a very high quality level. “

Peer Kamp, Director Research and Development of PWN Water Supply Company North Holland:
“What more can I say? No fiber breaks detected.“

The performance of the membranes in these three plants is summarized below.

Total Capacity: > 57 MGD / 214 MLD
