“An icon for Dubaï, the Palm Jumeirah is a marvel of design and engineering and a natural candidate for the eight world wonder”

The 8th world wonder cannot do without world’s best UF technology available today. Therefore, Norit X-Flow’s SEAGUARD membranes haven been selected for pre-treatment of the two SWRO desalination plants.

Norit X-Flow received the order from ACWa Emirates, the Dubai-based EPC contractor responsible for the Palm project. After extensive evaluation of key suppliers in the industry, the decision to select Norit X-Flow was based on experience and track record on projects of similar size.

The SEAGUARD membranes will purify 184,000 m3 of raw seawater each day, which results in 64,000 m3 per day clean drinking water after the RO treatment.

The SEAGUARD was first launched January 2006 as the first dedicated membrane for UF pre-treatment for seawater reverse osmosis. The recent successes show a breakthrough of dual membrane treatment for large scale seawater desalination. It will further boost the use of RO for seawater desalination, also for more challenging seawater sources.
